A process for agglomerating powders to make a product of low bulk weight (see Division B1) comprises spraying a liquid or paste on a powder which is advanced by an upwardly inclined jigging conveyer. In an example a mineral substratum of tetrasodium pyrophosphate, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium sulphate, sodium disilicate, sodium perborate and carboxymethyl cellulose was sprayed with a 50% aqueous solution of sodium tetrapropyl benzene sulphonate to form a washing powder of bulk weight 325 g/l. In another example a mixture of sodium pyrophosphate, tripolyphosphate, sulphate, disilicate, and perborate and carboxymethyl cellulose was sprayed with a 90% ethyl aryl polyglycol ether followed by a 50% solution of sodium tetrapropyl benzene sulphonate. The product contained 25.3% active washing substance and 18.2% water and had a bulk weight of 310 g/l. Specifications 918,499 and 926,409 are referred to. |
