PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a response by quickly developing negative pressure in an intake manifold while maintaining a silent start when starting an engine. SOLUTION: This engine starting control device has an intake passage having a throttle valve for adjusting a flow rate of suction air, an intake valve for opening and closing by synchronizing communication of the intake passage to a combustion chamber with engine rotation, and intake valve variable control means S2, S3, S15 and S17 for variably controlling the intake valve so as to reduce the air volume filled in the combustion chamber more than the ordinary volume when igniting by performing first fuel injection after strengthening the development of the negative pressure more than ordinary pressure in the intake passage on the downstream side of the throttle valve when cranking the engine.
