PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel whose structure is improved and has the reflectance of outer light reduced and the luminance efficiency improved. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel includes a front base plate, as well as, a rear base plate, wale type barrier ribs including cross-wise barrier ribs and length-wise barrier ribs which divide a plurality of discharge cells between the front base plate and the rear base plate, a scanning electrode as well as a sustaining electrode arranged side by side with the cross-wise barrier ribs from between the front base plate and the rear base plate, and a black layer, including a first black part formed at a position facing the cross-wise barrier ribs on the front base plate and a second black part, formed at a position corresponding to a part of the length-wise barrier ribs.
