PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a brake drive system without causing the driver to turn an operating lever and facilitate the operation made by the driver. SOLUTION: The controlling method and device for a driving device equipped with an operation device 10 for instructing the operation of the brake drive system 20 of a vehicle are configured so that the brake drive system 20 is put in the operating condition irrespective of instruction of the operation device 10 in case turning a shift lever or preparation thereto is conducted when the vehicle is to be started. When stopping the vehicle, the operation device is locked in condition that the brake drive system is in operation, and the brake drive system 20 is put in the operating condition irrespective of instruction of the operation device 10 in case the shift lever is turned in the parking position.
