PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve maintenance of a returning cylinder 34 having possibility of clogging in a reaping operation under a bad condition in a combine harvester in which a traveling machine body is loaded with a threshing apparatus 5 and a grain tank 7 in a laterally arranged state and which is equipped with a grain lifting cylinder 33 having a built-in grain lifting conveyor for transporting clean grains to the grain tank 7 and the returning cylinder 34 having a built-in returning conveyor for returning tailings to the threshing apparatus 5 between the threshing apparatus 5 and the grain tank 7. SOLUTION: In the combine harvester, the grain lifting cylinder 33 is arranged at a side close to one side wall 5a of the threshing apparatus 5. The returning cylinder 34 is arranged so that it is intersected with the grain lifting cylinder 33 at a side close to the grain tank 7 (at a side remote from one side wall 5a of the threshing apparatus 5) and extended. A window hole for maintenance is opened toward the grain tank 7 through a part near the starting end of the returning cylinder 34 and the window hole is closed by a detachable or opening/closing type cover body 102.
