PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make error occurring in color arithmetic processing less noticiable on a reproduced picture. SOLUTION: A first color arithmetic circuit 22 generates an R component and a B component by subtracting a G component respectively from a Ye component and a Cy component and outputs the G component as it is. A second color arithmetic circuit 23 generates an R component and a B component by subtracting a Cy component and a Ye component respectively from a W component and generates a G component by subtracting the W component from an added value of the Cy component and the Ye component. First color difference data U1, V1 are generated from primary color data P1[R], P1[B], P1[G] generated by the first color arithmetic circuit 22, second color difference data U2, V2 are generated from primary color data P2[R], P2[B], P2[G] generated by the second arithmetic circuit 23, and the respective data are then combined by a combination circuit 30.
