PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable updating a western calendar year in a calendar IC having a year counter without a carry function, with a simple structure, restraining a cost increase. SOLUTION: In a calendar IC 17 having a year counter 21g in which the lower two digits from "00" to "99" of the western calender year are counted every year, and "00" is produced when a counter value "99" is incremented by 1, at least arbitrary two, the first and the second registers (minute alarm register and hour alarm register) 23a, 23b being incorporated in the calendar IC 17 are regarded as unused general registers. In the first register 23a, the upper two digits of the western calendar year are stored, while in the second register 23b, the lower two digits of the western calendar year are stored.
