PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent such behavior that the rear end of a thick recording material for high gloss image jumps up from a conveyance path, and also to control the occurrence of paper wrinkle in a thin recording material for low gloss image. SOLUTION: Plain paper approaches a nip area of a fixing device 7 for low glossiness by a larger angle (10 degrees), and coat paper approaches the nip area of the fixing device for high glossiness by a smaller angle (0 degrees). If an approach angle to the nip area is larger, recording paper (plain paper) is a little bent in a direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction in the vicinity of the entrance to the nip area so that the stiffness of the recording paper (plain paper) itself is increased to prevent the occurrence of a paper wrinkle. At the same time, if the approach angle to the nip area is smaller, the attitude of the recording paper (coat paper) is not varied so much. Accordingly, even if it is the thick recording paper, such behavior that the rear end of the paper jumps up from the conveyance path is hard to occur. Consequently, unfixed toner images on the recording paper are hardly disturbed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
