PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viewing angle control type display device with which occurrence of abnormal rise of luminance in a display picture is prevented, and to provide a terminal device with the display device mounted thereon, a light source device mounted on the display device, and an optical member. SOLUTION: A light source 51, a light guide plate 3, a prism sheet 31, a transparence/scatter switching element 122, and a transmissive liquid crystal display panel 7 are arranged on the display device 2. In the transparence/scatter switching element 122, two sheets of transparent substrates 109 are arranged in parallel to each other and are separated from each other, and electrodes 110 are disposed on surfaces of the respective transparent substrates 109. Also scatter sealing materials 108 are arranged between outer peripheral parts of the transparent substrates 109, and a PDLC layer 111 is enclosed in a space sealed with the scatter sealing materials 108 between the transparent substrates 109. The scatter sealing materials 108 are made to have a degree of scattering which causes scatter and transmission of incident light, and the degree of scattering is made to be equal to that of the PDLC layer 111 in the scattering state.
