<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "a composite image generation device and a composite image generation method" capable of generating a composite image that does not cause non-conformity in luminance, also does not cause white saturation and black saturation, and is easy in being viewed. <P>SOLUTION: The composite image generating device comprises a compressing part 4a for compressing at a prescribed compression rate luminance values of one image and an adjacent image which is adjacent to the one image and partially superimposed on an image among images photographed by a plurality of cameras 2a-2d; a luminance difference analyzing part 4c for obtaining a luminance difference in an image part where the one image is superimposed on the adjacent image; a second shift part 4d for shifting both the image and the adjacent image or either of the images so as to eliminate the luminance difference; and an extending part 4e for extending the luminance value of either the image or the adjacent image which is shifted within a range where luminance values of whole pixels after extension are values between an absolute white luminance value and an absolute black luminance value. Consequently, the difference is eliminated in the luminance level of a superimposed part, so that the luminance level after correction becomes a level within the range of absolute white and absolute black. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
