PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for a coating apparatus by which the inside of the coating apparatus having complicated piping passage and particularly requiring the precise coating with a small quantity of coating liquid is cleaned in a short time without disassembling. SOLUTION: In an ink jet printing apparatus 100 having an ink jet part 3, a coating liquid supply pump 20, a coating liquid storage vessel 19 and coating liquid pipe lines 21 for connecting them, a cleaning apparatus 101 as a cleaning means for cleaning the coating liquid pipe lines by alternately sending a gas and a solvent and passing the boundary face of the gas and the solvent through the pipe line is connected to the coating liquid pipe line 21.
