PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain remarkable cost reduction and to facilitate maintenance of a cleaning means by decreasing required numbers of cleaning means when occurrence of insertion/discharge fault in a drive apparatus and carriage fault in the carrier are suppressed by providing the cleaning means cleaning automatically the surface of a cartridge case. SOLUTION: The library apparatus 1 is provided with a storage 30 housing a plurality of storage media housed in the cartridge case 2, a drive device 10 writing and/or reading data in/from the storage medium, and a carrier 20 carrying the cartridge case 2 between at least the storage 30 and the drive device 10, wherein the carrier 20 is provided with the cleaning means 25 cleaning automatically the surface of the cartridge case.
