Compressor has compressor impeller (17) rotably situated in compressor inlet channel (15), via which combustion air is compressed to a heightened boost pressure and additional channel (16) in housing (13) which opens out in the compressor inlet channel. It has a detent (24) regulating the passage of air into the compressor impeller which is adjustably located between a position near to the impeller and one drawn back from it. In the drawn back position, a part of the front of the detent approaches the compressor impeller until only a minimal gap is present and the front side of the detent forms a flow impact wall (28) for the combustion air to be led to the compressor impeller.
