PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine for improving fuel economy while miniaturizing an air-fuel mixture pressure generator for supplying compressed air to an air-fuel mixture injection valve. SOLUTION: This cylinder direct injection type internal combustion engine E comprises the air-fuel mixture injection valve 100 for directly injecting an air-fuel mixture of air and fuel into a combustion chamber 10 by mixing the air and the fuel by a mixing chamber 114 installed in a head member CH, facing the combustion chamber 10 and formed inside; and is constituted so that the head member CH is formed with a communicating space for communicating the combustion chamber 10 with the mixing chamber 114, and a solenoid valve 170 is installed for opening and closing this communicating space, and the solenoid valve 170 is operated so as to open the communicating space by a compression stroke of the internal combustion engine, and the air compressed in the combustion chamber 10 is supplied to the mixing chamber 114 via the communicating space.
