PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas adsorbent which is used for cigarette filters, little adsorbs flavor ingredients such as nicotinamide contained in the cigarettes and L-menthol added to the cigarettes, but can selectively remove acidic injurious ingredients such as hydrogen cyanide. SOLUTION: This gas adsorbent for cigarettes is characterized by satisfying the following conditions (I) and (II) and/or conditions (I) and (III), or satisfying the following conditions (IV) and (II) and/or conditions (IV) and (III). (I) An amine elution amount is≤10μequivalent/g, and an acid adsorption volume is≥2.5μequivalent/g. (II) A nicotinamide adsorption amount is≤10 mg/g. (III) An L-menthol adsorption amount is≤50 mg/g.
