The unit has a carrier that is in credit card format, and an indicating unit (11) that is in the form of an electronic paper and is arranged on the carrier. An indicating electronics (12) is placed in the carrier for storing user authorization information and representing portion of the information on the indicating unit. A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag (13) is provided in or on the carrier, where authorization information is provided via the tag. A release and locking unit is provided for identifying and representing the authorization information on the indicating unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method of determining an authorization of an identification unit (2) a method for assigning an authorization for an identification unit.
