A method of setting a power level of an electric range is provided to determine whether an electric burner is operated depending on the power level when power is applied. A method of setting a power level of an electric range includes the steps of maintaining a power-OFF state of a heater and detecting a step position of a knob when a power application order is input by a user(S20), initiating the power to the heater and applying the corresponding power level depending on the step position of the knob when the step position of the knob is at the minimum level(S30), and maintaining the power-OFF state of the heater when the step position of the knob is at a higher power level than the minimum level(S40). The method further includes the steps of applying the corresponding power level to a first heater when the step position of the knob is changed into a higher level than the minimum level, and turning on/off a second heater when the step position of the knob is changed into the maximum level.
