A method for determining the water filled porosity of formations, the rock matrix and hydrocarbon fractional parameters of formations, and the water temperature in a formation, comprises deriving from measurements of electromagnetic energy in the formations, at a plurality of frequencies, a plurality of complex permittivities, and deriving as a function of the permittivities the desired formation parameter. The techniques have the advantage of minimizing or eliminating external inputs that can introduce inaccuracies in the parameter determination. |
