PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system having bookbinding equipment which executes reliable cover gluing-on bookbinding, improves the quality of finished bookbinding, while preventing the damage to a cover, and maintains the productivity of a high-speed processing. SOLUTION: The bookbinding equipment has a cover externally-fitting means which sticks the cover to the back of a paper bundle and subjects it to the cover gluing-on processing, a belt conveyance means which conveys the cover introduced into the cover externally-fitting means, an air sucking-discharging means which sucks and jets the air through air holes of the belt conveyance means, and a rotatable booklet delivering means which bears the booklet prepared by the cover externally-fitting means and delivers it outside the equipment. In the equipment, a control is made so that the air sucking-discharging means retains the cover borne on the belt conveyance means, with a negative pressure, on the occasion when the belt conveyance means bears the cover introduced into the cover externally-fitting means and conveys it to a prescribed position and that the air sucking-discharging means is switched over so as to jet the air and to lift up the cover by the air pressure on the occasion when the cover externally-fitting means comes into contact with the back of the paper bundle and sticks the cover thereto to form the booklet and the booklet is sent out thereafter onto the booklet delivering means.
