<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an optical fiber strand by which an optical fiber strand excellent in hydrogen resistance characteristics can be manufactured, and to provide the optical fiber strand. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a bare optical fiber comprises heating and melting an optical fiber preform in a spinning furnace, pulling the preform into a bare optical fiber, then cooling the bare optical fiber to a resin coating temperature, coating the bare optical fiber with a coating resin, crosslinking and curing the coating resin to obtain an optical fiber strand; wherein during cooling the bare optical fiber, the bare optical fiber in a region where the temperature of the fiber is 1,000°C to 1,200°C is slowly cooled in a slow cooling furnace, and the temperature of the slow cooling furnace is controlled to a range of 1,000°C to 1,200°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
