摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of automatically adjusting brightness of a liquid crystal display monitor to brightness suitable for surrounding brightness, and being produced with a simple configuration at a low cost. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 10 comprises an image pick-up means and an automatic exposure control means. The image pick-up means includes a photographing lens 16, a diaphragm 18, and a CCD 20. The automatic exposure control means integrates a luminance component of an image signal obtained in a predetermined frame rate from the image pick-up means using an integrating circuit 34, and controls exposure so that the integrated value may become a predetermined reference value. When moving images are displayed on a liquid crystal display monitor 14 based on the image signal obtained in a predetermined frame rate, the imaging apparatus 10 detects object's brightness using the automatic exposure control means, and adjusts so that brightness of the liquid crystal display monitor 14 (brightness of a back light 40) may become proper brightness, considering that the object's brightness is surrounding brightness.
