PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine which prevents a temperature of an outer tank from rising abnormally when there is no water inside the outer tank during a heated washing process and improves safety. SOLUTION: The washing machine is provided with a heated washing process for conducting washing process by heating the washing water by controlling a heater 14. The washing machine is structured in a way that, during the heated washing process when the percentage of temperature rise detected by a temperature detecting device 18 after the heater 14 is supplied with power exceeds a prescribed rate, it stops supplying power to the heater 14 thereby prevents the temperature of the outer tank 26 from rising abnormally when there is no water inside the outer tank 26 and improves safety.
