A device and a method for providing a multimedia file, and the device and the method for reproducing the download multimedia file are provided to prevent reproduction of the illegally distributed multimedia file by allowing a digital device to reproduce the multimedia file after bit insertion information matched with the multimedia file is downloaded to the digital device. A storing part(11) stores the multimedia files and the bit insertion information. A controller(13) inserts more than one bit into the multimedia file to prevent illegal reproduction of the multimedia file, stores the bit insertion file to the storing part, and transmits the multimedia file including the bit and the matched bit insertion information in response to a request. The controller includes a file providing processor(15) transmits the multimedia file including the bit to the digital device in case that the digital device requests the multimedia file, and an information providing processor(16) transmits the bit insertion information to the digital device in the case that the digital device requests the bit insertion information for the multimedia file.
