<p>The invention relates to a method for calibrating an a system for controlling thrust and steering of a drive arrangement (4, 5) in a watercraft (1 ), said system comprising an operating device (10) adapted for indicating a requested direction of travel of said watercraft (1 ), the operating device (10) being connected to a control unit (8) for providing corresponding thrust and steering commands to said drive arrangement (4, 5). The invention comprises the steps of: receiving an activation command (15) in the control unit (8), for beginning said calibration, detecting any movements (x, y, z) of said operating device (10), storing values corresponding to said movements (x, y, z) in the control unit (8) together with corresponding thrust and steering values (?n, a-<SUB>1</SUB>, a<SUB>2</SUB>), and repeating said detecting step and said storing step until a termination command is received in the control unit (8), thereby using said stored values in subsequent operation of the operating device (10) for indicating said direction of travel of the watercraft (1).
