PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to acquire information simply using an information retrieval device. SOLUTION: When a user finds a word or a character string when the user browses a sentence etc., the user selects the word (or the character string) and performs prescribed operation. While an window generation management part 53 generates a window corresponding to the operation, a URL generation part 54 generates a URL. The generated URL is a URL by which information of the character string selected by the user in a dictionary which a prescribed server manages can be acquired. An information acquisition part 57 accesses to the prescribed server based on the generated URL and acquires information. A display control part 58 controls display so that the acquired information is displayed in the generated window. This invention can be applied to computers for retrieving information.
