PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate an evaluation value for quantitatively evaluating a visibility angle characteristic for a display device. SOLUTION: This method of calculating the visibility angle characteristic evaluation value for the display device for calculating the evaluation value for quantitatively evaluating the visibility angle characteristic for the display includes a characteristic difference calculation step S3 for finding a difference between the first characteristic value that is a measured value of a characteristic value when the display is viewed from a front face, and the second characteristic value that is a measured value of a characteristic value when the display is viewed from an angle other than the front face, as to the characteristic value serving as a factor for determining an image quality in the display, and an evaluation value calculation step S4 for calculating the evaluation value, based on the difference, and a computation expression for finding an SN ratio of a desired small characteristic in the characteristic value.
