PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil for an internal combustion engine, in which a high-pressure joint is not susceptible to breakage caused by handling when it is assembled and attached to an engine head or vibration in transport. SOLUTION: In the ignition coil 11 for an internal combustion engine, an ignition coil body 21 generating high voltage is connected with the high-pressure joint 31 supplying high voltage which is supplied from the ignition coil body 21 to an ignition plug by a connecting cap 41 made of elastic body. A high-pressure tower part 22t of the ignition coil body 21 is overlapped with a part of a tubular part 32 constituting the high-pressure joint 31 in an axial direction of the high-pressure joint 31, and the ignition coil body 21 is connected with the high-pressure joint 31 by the connecting cap 41. An outer shape of a tip part 43ap which is inserted toward the rear end side of the tubular part 32 of a ring-like part 43a of the connecting cap 41 inserted into the tubular part 32 is formed in a shaped of spherical surface.
