Radio data system (1) can be used for receiving traffic news from a specific channel in a non-audio way. The system comprises a processing and evaluation unit (2) for high frequency signals and the included RDS-information. The unit (2) can be a navigation system or a personal digital assistant with a TMC-tuner. The processing and evaluation unit (2) is connected with a cable (3) to the car battery with a plug (4) to be inserted into the socket of the cigarette lighter. The length of the cable (3) is selected in order to use it as an aerial for the reception of the traffic news. An independent claim is given for an RDS-receiver.
