PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet protective structure and a magnet protective method of the rotor in a rotary electric machine which can prevent adhesion of magnetic powder to the surface of the permanent magnet of the rotor with a magnet before the rotor is attached to the stator by a simple means. SOLUTION: A magnet surrounding member 19 composed of a soft magnet plate is attached to the outer circumferential side surface of the permanent magnet 15 of a rotor 1 having a magnetized magnet, and that magnet surrounding member 19 is removed when the rotor 1 is attached to the stator. Since the magnet surrounding member 19 has soft magnetism, magnetic powder attraction effect is reduced by short-circuiting the external field of the permanent magnet 15 and the magnet protective structure can also be utilized for supporting the magnet surrounding member 19 on the rotor 1.
