PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder (ADF) in which a belt unit held by an opening/closing upper cover can be easily removed. SOLUTION: An automatic document feeder comprises: a first bearing 102 which supports a shaft member 82a at one terminal side so as to revolve the shaft member while being held so as to be slid and moved at that one terminal side of the shaft member 82a of a driving roller 82; a second bearing 103 which supports the shaft member at another terminal side so as to revolve the shaft member; a coil spring 105 which is held by the shaft member 82a so as to energize the first bearing 102 toward that one terminal side; a first shaft supporting plate 107 which supports the first bearing 102 while engaging it into a through-hole; and a second shaft supporting plate 108 which supports the second bearing 103 while engaging it into a through-hole. By energizing the first bearing 102 using the coil spring 105, the first bearing 102 is locked at an engaging position with the through-hole of the first shaft supporting plate 107, and the second bearing 103 is locked at an engaging position with the through-hole of the second shaft supporting plate 108.
