PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front structure of an engine capable of suppressing the deformation of a timing cover without increasing the pads by effectively using the uneven shape inevitably formed in the timing cover. SOLUTION: A storage part 40 in a tension adjuster 17 for adjusting a position of a tension lever 19 corresponding to the loose side of a camshaft drive lower stage chain 14 in the vicinity of a mount seat 32 of a timing cover 30 is formed between a flange part 31 and mount seat 32 of the timing cover 30, and taken as a bead part 41 having a cross-sectionally circular uneven shape with a prescribed interval from the outer surface of the tension adjuster 17.
