The mechanism has roof parts (11, 12) firmly connected with a windscreen frame (2) and a roll-over bar (4) using a locking unit when a vehicle roof is completely closed. The roof part (12) is inserted in retaining units of the roof part (11) so that roof part (12) is connected with the roof part (11). The roof parts have a fixed shape for covering the interior of a vehicle and are removable in a piled or connected form from the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle with a folding top mechanism.
