<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus whereby jamming of recording media caused in an image recording section or its vicinity can easily be removed, even when it occurs. <P>SOLUTION: When the main body cover 3 of a facsimile machine 1 is opened, an original reading section 25 and an opening/closing cover 27 or the like are exposed externally. The opening/closing cover 27 covers the image recording section 12 and also serves as a guide for properly guiding originals after their images are read by an original read section 25 in its discharging direction. Since the opening/closing cover 27 is still closed while the main body cover 3 is merely opened, the image recording section 12 cannot be externally viewed nor accessed. When the opening/closing cover 27 is turned around an opening/closing cover turning shaft 29 from this state, the opening/closing cover 27 is opened and the image recording section 12 is exposed externally.
