FUEL CELL ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY WITH IMPROVED POWER OUTPUT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell electrode assembly generating an improved power output.

SOLUTION: The electrode-membrane assembly for use with a fuel cell contains at least one reactant diffusive conductive electrode (1, 3) containing at least one kind of a first catalytically active metal and at least one kind of ion conductive polymer, and at least one ion conductive membrane forming electrode-membrane interface areas (4, 5) in contact with the electrode, of which, the interface area contains at least one kind of a second catalytically active metal and at least one zone with a thickness of about 3 Å to about 475 Å.
