PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autofocus system capable of using an AF imager, having imaging surfaces whose optical path lengths are appropriately different from each other for AF, having no relation to a recording/reproducing image. SOLUTION: Object light made incident on a photographic lens 50 branches off the optical path of the optical axis O for guiding to an image CCD 60 for a camera body 56 to an AF optical path of an optical axis O' at a half mirror 52. On the AF optical path, an AF CCD 32 having two imaging surfaces having different optical path length is arranged, and the object light guided to the AF optical path is imaged on the two imaging surfaces of the AF CCD 32.
