PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device capable of easily selecting a necessary electronic certificate out of a plurality of electronic certificates by defining an extended certificate store in which importance of electronic certificate, imprint image data, etc., are stored. SOLUTION: The terminal device acquires an electronic certificate and stores it in the certificate store with a DN as a key. Further, registration information input by a user is acquired to generate extended certificate information including the registration information and a DN of a certificate to be newly registered, and the generated extended certificate information is stored in the certificate store with the DN as a key. When an application uses a certificate, the terminal device acquires a certificate selection request, generates a certificate list consisting of DNs and registration information based upon the extended certificate information, and displays the certificate list. When a user selects a certificate to be used from the certificate list, the terminal device extracts the certificate from the certificate store based upon the DN included in the acquired selection information and transmits the certificate to the application.
