A method of automatic agreeing on a set of attributes between a plurality of stations in a computer network. The method includes, in each station, determining at least one respective set of attributes that is acceptable for the station to be agreed with the other station. The attributes of the sets are selected from a predetermined list of attributes. The method uses a multi-party computation protocol to determine the agreed set based on the determined respective acceptable sets without revealing other information than a willingness to accept the agreed set.
