The container for storing contaminated materials comprises an opening/closing portion 902 provided with a seal 903 so as to allow the container to be fully sealed for transport to a decontamination station. The seal comprises an adhesive tape (501, Fig.5) which is configured to unseal upon the application of heat for decontamination purposes, for example by contracting under the action of the applied heat. The opening is defined by folded portions (503, 504, Fig.5 and 402, Fig.4) that can be deformed elastically in order to close the opening, but which will return to their pre-deformed state after the opening has become unsealed during decontamination heat. The folded portions can also be held in a temporary sealed state by means of a clamp (1001, Fig.10). The container may have a viewing window 316, and the base of the container may be formed to be concave during manufacture, by a baseplate with a raised profile (702, 703, Fig.7), so as to provide the container with more stability. |
