<p>In the production of a narrow foamed film roll by cutting through a wider roll (1) transverse to its longitudinal axis using a hot wire (5), the wire is heated sufficiently and kept at a suitable temperature for long enough during cutting to form skin bridges on the cut surface, at least partially connecting together the layers (2) of the roll in releasable fashion. An independent claim is included for an article produced by the process, consisting of a foamed film roll in which the film layers (2) are connected together at the front surfaces by skin bridges, specifically having a thickness of up to 0.4 (especially up to 0.02) mm.</p> |
