PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and its method which can assure image quality after processing, without changing loading of an operation process, and moreover, which can also acquire certain image of blurs. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has an imaging lens device 200 which images an object variance image, which has passed an optical system and a phase plate (light wave surface modulation element), an image processing apparatus 500 which forms an image signal which does not have variance from a distributed image signal from an imaging element 200, a photographic information formation portion 300 which forms a focal length, a result of multipoint ranging, information, corresponding to a distance to an object, zoom information, or photographing mode information and supplies to an image processing apparatus 500, and a selecting switching portion 400 which inserts or evacuates alternatively the desired phase plate of a plurality of the phase plates on an optical path. The image processing apparatus 500 forms the image signal, which does not have dispersion from the image signal, based on information formed by the photographic information formation portion 300.
