A light beam scanning device (1) comprises a light source device (2) for emitting a light beam, a disc- shaped refracting optical element (3) for refracting the light beam emitted from the light source device (2), and a drive motor (4) for rotationally driving the refracting optical element (3). In the light beam scanning device (1), the light beam emitted from the light source device (2) is made incident on the refracting optical element (3) while having the refracting optical element (3) rotated, and is refracted and scanned in a predetermined direction according to the position of incidence on the refracting optical element (3). This light beam scanning device (1) can be small-sized even in case the light beam is scanned in a high resolution. Moreover, the light beam scanning device (1) is excellent in temperature characteristics so that it can scan the light beam of a stable intensity. ® KIPO & WIPO 2007
