A mobile terminal and a message transmission/reception method using the same are provided to reduce time for a receiver to create a message through a ripple message upon receiving the message with a ripple code. A wireless circuit unit(110) transmits/receives a message. A ripple module unit(150) inserts a ripple code to a header of a transmission message, or checks whether a ripple code is included in a header of a received message to detect a ripple message including the ripple code. A display unit(140) displays a ripple message input window according to the ripple code. The ripple message input window is displayed as a pop-up window. A key input unit(120) selects a type of the transmission ripple message and creates the ripple message in an input window outputted according to the type.
