PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cement additive lowering the hydration heat of cement and being excellent in fluidity and strength development. SOLUTION: The cement additive is a fired material whose essential components are 2CaO-SiO<SB>2</SB>, 2CaO-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-SiO<SB>2</SB>and a calcium aluminate, whose chlorine content is 1 mass% or less, whose 2CaO-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-SiO<SB>2</SB>+4CaO-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>content is 10-150 pts.mass and whose calcium aluminate content is 20 pts.mass or less to 100 pts.mass of 2CaO-SiO<SB>2</SB>.
