PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of surely preventing biting of a paper pack when closing a dust collecting lid. SOLUTION: In the vacuum cleaner which is provided with a dust collecting chamber 12 capable of mounting the paper pack 10 for collecting dust and in which the opening of the dust collecting chamber 12 is hermetically sealed by the dust collecting lid so as to be freely opened and closed, a biting preventing member projected from the opening edge 16 of the dust collecting chamber 12 for preventing the biting of the paper pack 10 between the opening edge 16 and the dust collecting lid is provided. The biting preventing member is composed of a plurality of ribs 17 formed along the opening edge 16 on both side walls inside the dust collecting chamber 12, respectively, and projected over the opening edge 16.
