PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light shielding plate which is lightweight, firm, and simple in structure so as to protect an electronic apparatus, which is designed for outdoor use and equipped with various electronic components that constitute electronic circuits and are housed in a waterproof cabinet against direct rays of the sun. SOLUTION: The light shielding plate 3 is composed of a heat insulating material 33 formed of porous expanded styrene foam and two metal plates 31 and 32 sandwiching the heat insulating material 33 between them. The light shielding plate 3 is fixed by a bolt 6 to a threaded hole 52b bored in a cylindrical spacer 52 fixed to a cabinet 51 in an electronic apparatus 5 by welding, whereby heat received by the metal plate 31 from the direct rays of the sun is shut off by the heat insulating material 33 to protect the electronic apparatus 5 against the direct rays of the sun.
