<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively collecting indium from an indium-containing article to be treated which contains gallium as an impurity, with a simple step in a high yield, while adequately removing impurities, particularly, gallium that is a homologous element. <P>SOLUTION: The method for collecting indium comprises the steps of: making the indium-containing article to be treated containing impurities such as gallium of the homologous element contact with a large amount of an alkaline liquid at a predetermined temperature, to selectively elute gallium of the impurity into the liquid; and separating a solid from the liquid.
