PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that processing/editing software operating on a personal computer is required in a prior art for such processing/editing as to add information such as titles and play lists to video information recorded in a recording and reproducing apparatus, and that the user is required to install the software which is provided by information recording media such as a CD-ROM attached to a product when purchasing the recording and reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: The software necessary for processing/editing the video information recorded in the recording and reproducing apparatus by a personal computer is stored in a hard disk recording medium of the recording and reproducing apparatus in advance. When the recording and reproducing apparatus and an information processor are connected each other, the software is automatically installed to the information processor. Consequently, installation work of the software is automated, so that user-friendly recording and reproducing apparatus can be attained.
