PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase reliability by increasing the rigidity of a bearing part without changing the hole position of a discharge port in the upper support member bearing part of an upper support member as a part forming a rotary compression element or reducing the diameter of a rotating shaft. SOLUTION: This rotary compressor comprises, in a hermetic container, a drive element, a cylinder having the rotary compression element driven by the drive element to form the rotary compression element, a support member closing the opening of the cylinder, a discharge muffling chamber formed by the support member and a partition plate, and two discharge muffling chambers formed by the partition plate and a cover. A discharge port section formed in the upper support member and the outer diameter of an upper bearing section not interfered with a recessed part for mounting a discharge valve are formed large in wall thickness. The partition plate forming the discharge muffling chamber together with the upper support member is formed in the same shape as that of the upper support member bearing part, and the upper bearing end part is rounded.
