PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fabric softener having excellent softening effects, highly safe to the environment and human beings, and having stabilized properties. SOLUTION: The fabric softener contains lecithin (e.g. soybean lecithin), an 8-22C fatty acid salt (e.g. a lauric acid salt and an oleic acid salt) for dissolving and dispersing the lecithin, and an alcoholic solvent (preferably, a mixed solvent of a monohydric alcohol, a dihydric alcohol and a trihydric alcohol). The fabric softener has good biodegradability after being drained because of using the lecithin as the essential component, and is mild to the environment the human beings because of no skin irritation.
