<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera system in which interchangeable lenses suitable for a camera having a long flange back can be attached, via an intermediate adaptor, to a camera having a short flange back, and with which imaging with high image quality can be achieved. <P>SOLUTION: In this digital camera system, the flange back makes it possible to attach a lens barrel 12A which is suitable for a first camera body, to a second camera body 11B which is shorter than the first camera body, via the intermediate adaptor 31. By interposing the intermediate adaptor 31, the flange backs are made equal in distance. A compensation optical element 32a is incorporated in the intermediate adaptor 31. Thus, an optical distance from the mount face of the first camera body to its imaging face is made equal to an optical distance from the mount face with the intermediate adaptor 31 attached thereto, to the imaging face of the second camera body 11B.
